Toward the beginning of August, I was invited by the Hungarian Chamber Symphony Orchestra to compose a new work for string orchestra to be performed in November 2005. This is for a special program of American repertoire called the “American Composers’ Podium”.

One Response to “New Chamber Orchestra Commission”

Frank Barcone says:

It seems that new works for string orchestra are very welcomed for new repertory. I am sure the Hungarian Chamber Symphony will do a great job premiering the work.

American composers such as David Diamond, Steven R. Gerber, Samuel Barber, and others have written such musically sophisticated works in the String Orchestra genre.

Hopefully the new American composers will remember to avoid the dregs of only serialism and move toward a new richer harmonic path, especially when given the opportunity to write new repertory for the next fifty years.
